This is the autobiography of a Mahatma (super being) of India who is believed to have bought the independence to the vast country with his truthfulness and non violence . He is loved in all the parts of the world even today , and is read by many who wish to know about India in its deep depths .


This book explains the life of MOHAN DAS KARAMCHAND GANDHI who is today known by his popular title of MAHATMA GANDHI . In this book he writes about his life from very beginning of his childhood till the 1930's . He explains his family , lifestyle , education and every details of this thoughts and ideas and a young boy . He shares his mischievous activities as a child and allow the reader to get a full glimpse of his childhood .


He then elaborately tells about his personal feelings about the religion and systems of society . He also share about his role as a husband as he was married very young age also shares his intimate feelings that he had with his wife .


A large part is dedicated to his life in foreign countries . First he tells about his stay in England as a student and then about his struggles in Africa . He give every glimpse of the events that changed his Life and led him to live a life full of simplicity and dedicated to service of others . He also lights the subject of his religion Hinduism that is a mystery in Western world even today .


Then the book goes on explaining about the structure of the Congress and how the independence struggle was going on . His own idea of Satyagraha (urge for truth) can be understood in the book .


The readers will fully understand that how a skinny Indian wearing just a Dhoti (loincloth) was able to bring the British Empire to their knees through his pure thought process and firm faith in his principles of truth and non violence .


Today many years has passed since the Mahatma left us but still his teaching and principles are relevant in today's world which is full of violence and hatred . Though his own name surname 'Gandhi' is used by petty politicians for their political fame , but the whole world still bows down to his perseverance and faith .
