Environmental Conditions are affecting Forests

A multi-institutional research team found that the environmental conditions are changing adversely. These conditions are affecting forests around the whole world leading to increase in death of trees and uncertainty about the ability of forests to recover. We will discover the reasons on the following article. Lets go deeper.

Sharp increase in amount of Carbon dioxide, temperature and extreme conditional events such as droughts, wildfires are leading to trees mortality and an increase in competition for resources among saplings(the young trees). This competitions is triggering to the forest thinning and thus the amount of captured carbon is less again looping this scenario more adversely.

What the Research Team Said?

  • There’s a lot of nuance just in the carbon dioxide response.

  • We are examining the many tradeoffs and feedbacks. For instance, elevated carbon dioxide can spur tree growth while also increasing the risk of mortality associated with faster growth rates.

These words are from Anthony Walker of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

The End Notes

The process is looping and triggering the next loop in such a way that it has more adverse effect on Future. The study concluded that pervasive shifts in forest vegetation are likely to accelerate in the future. Share your views in the comment section below.
