According to the latest research published in a journal of Marketing, people disclose more of their personality in Mobile Phones rather than on Desktop Computers. Are Mobile Phones working as a truth serum by the effect of which the tendency to disclose intimate and more personal behavior is constantly increasing in people?
The Research
The research indicates that Facebook Posts, tweets, or any other comments published using smartphones are more likely to disclose the real perspective of the writer. In addition to this, when anyone receives an online ad request requesting personal information such as phone numbers or income, they are more likely to provide it when using mobile phones in comparison with desktop computers.
The Reason
Using smartphones often lowers the barrier against revealing a certain kind of personal and sensitive information because of the emotional attachment of how we hold our smartphone.
In addition to it, when we are writing on our phone we focus narrowly on completing the task, and our awareness of holding back self-disclosure decreases. You can understand this fact by the following example very easily. When you are using your smartphone in public places, you just become unaware of the things going around you.
The End Notes
The research is very helpful for firms. Firms wish to have a deeper understanding of consumer behavior. They may obtain better insights by tracking what they say and do on their smartphones than on their desktops. Well, that's all about the big data that I tried to make you aware of. That's all in this article. Drop your comments below. Cheers!
